Have you ever been traveling a distance, across unfamiliar territory, then noticed that (somehow) the scenery changed dramatically?
Maybe, for hours and hours, nothing but wheat fields alongside of you–but now you see rock walls opening up to a gorgeous river and canyon. Maybe trees have appeared (where did they come from?) and the light has changed to make the road ahead appear surreal.
It happens.
A friend asked me when I was going to start writing again “like I used to.”
But, you know what? I don’t reckon I will ever be the same again. The scenery has changed. The road has been traveled. I see different things, and I see things differently now. I don’t want to go back. I’m determined to go on.
I whine less. I mean more. I’ve dropped some shackles. My life is better, and my writing is better. I know so.
And I wish the same for you, dear reader. I wish the same for you.
